Welcome to New Zealand!

Welcome to the youngest country on Earth : New Zealand. New Zealand, formerly a British colony, but just a part of the Commonwealth now, is the country of the Kiwi, and maybe the most wonderful country you could ever find. It is just composed by two islands in the South of the Pacific Ocean, but with about 14 000 earthquakes a year, your adventure will certainly be... Agitated!

The lovely landscapes of New Zealand

You can find in New Zealand some animal species you will never find somewhere else!

The Tuatara
The Kiwi bird, surely the cutest thing on Earth
A rare parrot : the Kakapo
Furthermore, New Zealand is certainly the only country where you can practise extreme sports as various as there are. Surfing, sky jumping, skiing, rafting, you can't even count them!
Rock climbing
Then, you must discover the Maori civilization, and their traditions, like the Haka dance, used for example in the national rugby team, the All Blacks.

The most known Haka : Kamate!
Share their culture with them, admire their jewels, like the fascinating pounamu, or the tiki. Be also impressed by their tattoos, wich represent the legend of Mataora and Niwareka, and attend to a ceremony in the Marae, in the heart of each of their village.

New Zealand is also the country of Tolkiens, and Peter Jackson. Did you know a great part of the Lord of the Rings scenes have been shot in New Zealand? It offered some ideal place that corresponded perfectly to the Tolkiens's books.

The Hobbit Village... In reality just a sheep village!

More recently, it was also used for Andrew Adamson's film, inspired by C.S. Lewis's books, Narnia.

New Zealand still largely unknown on certain points of its history, and cultural identity, and for Maoris, it is mostly a result of colonization since it has been discovered. You have to enjoy and preserve it!

Enjoy your Voyage in the Kiwi World!
